About this deal
Our super-premium gin was crafted to celebrate Highclere’s reputation for entertaining to the highest standards through the centuries. From the beautiful bottle to the delicious liquid inside, this was the first time I actually enjoyed gin.
Now I love a gin that can be enjoyed straight up (or better yet on the rocks) and this one qualifies as a true sipping gin. With a delicate balance of juniper, lime flower, orange peel and a touch of lavender, it is the true essence of Highclere’s ancient estate. With a delicate balance of juniper, lime flower, orange peel and a touch of lavender, it is the true essence of Highclere's ancient estate. Juniper has grown on the site since the days of the Romans, so it's almost like gin was destined to be made here. With only 2,000 cases produced, this special blend of Highclere Castle Gin is a once in a lifetime product, and, like the discovery of King Tut’s Tomb, will go down in history, never to be released again. If humankind was as subtle, smooth, and balanced as this gin, the world would be a much finer place. While The Highclere Castle folks tout this as a “Super Premium” gin, those words are really just puffery - advertising lingo to make a product look good, (like the word “handmade” which sadly also has no legal meaning behind it) but this is a gin which backs it up in flavor and complexity.
Distilled above an ancient underground water source, Highclere Castle Gin is produced at Langley Distillery; England’s oldest gin distillery in one of the oldest working copper gin stills dating back to the 1800’s.Once you get past the juniper and citrus, the flavors of lavender, and the mouthfeel added by the oats, which are added in the botanical mix, offer a depth, and long lasting aftertaste, which is remarkably pleasant. Try with: A little ice or on its own to experience Highclere Castle Gin’s delicate flavors before mixing it in just about any gin cocktail you like – this is a truly versatile London Dry gin.
