Doug's tendency to give in to his temptations, despite promising Carrie otherwise, is another common cause of conflict. In '48 Hours' (1982), when he is the only survivor of a cop shooting, hard-nosed Jack Cates (Nick Nolte) springs prison inmate Reggie Hammond (Murphy). It then cuts to scenes of Doug, Carrie, and Arthur spending time around Queens, including local landmarks such as the Unisphere and Flushing Meadows–Corona Park.

Arthur Spooner (played by Jerry Stiller) is Carrie's widowed father, who has been married three times. And last but not least Jerry Stiller as Arthur Spooner, the outrageous father-in-law that lives in Doug and Carries basement after setting fire to his house, trying to cook on an old hot plate. Doug’s no longer the king of his domain — the renovated basement that houses his beloved supersized TV set — let alone the king of Queens, where he lives.

The series begins after Doug and Carrie have been married for 3 years, and how they met is somewhat unclear due to continuity issues. The twenty discs ship in two oversized Amaray cases within a slip box that's less than tough but more than sturdy. Unlike Seinfeld, which ended while still at the peak of its popularity, The King of Queens almost did not have a ninth season. The character of Arthur was conceived with Jerry Stiller in mind, but he initially turned down the role.

Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections—they may also appear in recommendations and other places. I started watching this show in syndication so unfortunately I missed the first eight seasons in prime time.
