About this deal

After visiting 100 countries by the end of 2019 I felt inspired to visit every country in the world. However, along the way I found out it is not my thing to turn traveling into a challenge. I travel because it is my passion, I travel to learn, to become a better person and to feel alive and live in the moment. For me life is about chasing happiness, not goals! The most obvious benefit is that you’ll be able to use your phone in Europe right away, without needing to find and buy a SIM card. You’ll be able to compare prices, rather than buying the first thing you see at a European airport. All sim cards mentioned in this article are sim cards with FREE EU roaming intended for those that visit a couple countries on a short trip. However, if you only travel to 1 or 2 countries in Europe you might be better off buying a local sim card on arrival. Local sim cards are mostly valid in 1 country only. Especially for a trip to Eastern Europe I would recommend buying a local sim card, rather than a European sim card. Airalo is a trusted e-sim card provider and offers e-sim cards for pretty much every country in the world. Their Europe e-sim card plans are more expensive than other e-sim cards for Europe, but the reason why they are ranked this high in this European sim card comparison is because it is the only sim card for Europe you can buy on the internet that is 5G READY! If you joined Three before 1st October 2021 and haven’t changed or upgraded your plan since then you will be able tomake free use of Go Roam.

Brexit threw the UK out of the European Union and one of the major problems is the free EU roaming on UK prepaid sim cards. Most of the prepaid and e-sim cards you buy in the UK do not include free EU roaming anymore. For more info see my guide for buying a sim card in the UK in 2023. Buying a local sim card on arrival in Europe Once you land in Europe, you should be able to buy a SIM card from phone stores or at the airport. Just bear in mind that this may not be the cheapest way to get an international SIM. Do you need a SIM card for each country in Europe? When using Go Roam outside of Europe, a different limit applies to your usage there. Here, Three will look at the number of “complete months” you spend abroad in a Go Roam Around The World country. By complete months, this means you’ve spent the entire month abroad in a Go Roam country. If you’ve also used your phone inside the UK or in a non-Go Roam country, it will not count as a complete month towards your limit. Customers mustn’t spend more than two complete months abroad per year in a Go Roam Around The World country: If you’re travelling to one of our Go Roam Around the World destinations, you can also use your allowances to call and text the UK and use your data. Fair use policies apply in all Go Roam destinations. SIM card validity is the time the SIM card is valid after the last reload. If you have one of these travel SIM cards and its validity, for example, is for one year, this means that if you haven't loaded credit onto it for a year, it now can't be used again. You need to get a new SIM card.

Make sure you activate this card in one of the 72 countries below (Please do not activate it in unsupported countries (i.e Malaysia)). For Columbia, you must activate it in any one of the countries below before using. Or else it will be unusable because it cannot be activated in Columbia. Therefore upon arrival in Europe you can potentially buy a local prepaid sim card for tourists and be connected to the internet in all other countries you visit in Europe. However, there are a lot of exceptions, so keep reading… Buying a local prepaid sim card is the cheapest way to stay connected when traveling to Europe in 2023. In the links above you will find specific guides for buying a local prepaid sim card per country or airport, which means on arrival in Europe. This is the latest addition to the family of the Orange sim cards for traveling in Europe. It is the bigger brother of the Orange Holiday Europe sim card, but only available as an e-sim card at the moment. Three's All-in-One 20 starter plan comes with 12GB of data per month, which should be enough for a few weeks, plus 3,000 minutes of talk time within the UK (or 300 minutes when roaming in Europe) and 3,000 texts sent around the world. Great advantage of this Orange tourist sim card for Europe is that it has international calling minutes included. The downside about the Orange Holiday Europe prepaid sim card is that it is valid for only 14 days. If your trip to Europe is longer than 14 days I recommend you getting a different prepaid or e-sim card for Europe so you don't have to worry about topping up during your holiday. 3.
