About this deal

The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners is the Quest’s first AAA single-player game. This herculean effort combines a lengthy campaign, satisfying physics and realistic environments for an immersive horror experience. You’ll sneak, shoot and scavenge your way through a zombie-filled New Orleans with every major choice you make resulting in equally hefty consequences. With that in mind, even before looking at the differences between the headsets, we recommend the Quest 2 over the Rift S, because that's what Oculus will be developing from now on. Meta Quest: *Parents:* Important guidance and safety warnings for children's use here. Meta accounts for ages 10+ on Meta Quest 2 and 3; all other Meta Quest headsets for ages 13+. Certain apps, games and experiences may be suitable for a more mature audience. Meta quest features, functionality and content notice: Features, functionality and content are subject to change or withdrawal at any time, may not be available in all areas or languages or may be restricted; may require enabled software or service activation, and additional terms, conditions and/or charges may apply.

This might be the most unconventional accessory on the list, but a VR-ready PC is truly one of the best (and most expensive) Oculus Quest 2 accessories you can buy. A VR-ready PC will allow you to play PC VR content (like Half-Life: Alyx and Skyrim VR) on your Oculus Quest or Quest 2 via USB on Oculus Link or wirelessly using Air Link or Virtual Desktop ( head here to find out how).

Anker Charging Dock for Oculus Quest 2

The Oculus Rift accomplishes this using a pair of OLED screens that displays two images side by side, one for each eye. A set of lenses is placed on top of the panels, focusing and reshaping the picture and creating a stereoscopic 3D image. Each display offers 2,160 x 1200 resolution, which works out to offer 1080p resolution per eye. There's also a 110-degree field of view and 90 Hz refresh rate. The lenses are one of the most vulnerable parts of the Quest headset — they can be permanently scratched and direct sunlight can be magnified through them, resulting in burnt screen pixels. Looking for ways to improve your VR experience on Oculus Quest 2? Here’s our list of the best Quest 2 accessories for Autumn 2021, including carrying cases, head straps and more.

The Meta Quest 2 improves upon its pricier predecessor in nearly every way, making it a top VR headset for newbies and experienced users alike. The Climb is a breathtaking experience both visually and physically. If you’re looking for a physically challenging escape from the dreariness of the real world, chalk your hands up and grab on tight to The Climb. If you have a permanent spot in your house for your Quest 2, you’re going to need something to put it on. However, realistically any 2.0 or higher cable from a reliable brand should work fine, with 3.0 and above giving the best results. You may also need to buy a USB C to A adapter (which will also need to be USB 2.0 specification or higher) to plug the cable into your computer, depending on if it has a native USB-C port onboard.

Controller grips provide some extra protection for your Touch controllers. The grips pictured above are by Kiwi and actually replace Touch controller’s battery cover, forming a shell that sits across the face of the controller. Not only does this give you added protection, but it also adds on grips straps akin to those on the Valve Index controllers, so you can keep your controllers attached without gripping them the entire time. It’s impressive to see a game of this scale and design run so smoothly on the Quest 2’s mobile chip. On top of tight controls, immersive environments and a fun gameplay loop, developer BigBox VR is constantly rolling out live events to keep the game feeling fresh. But the Pico 4 pulls ahead in pretty much every other regard. It offers 8GB RAM, a display that’s 2,160 x 2,160 pixels per eye, and uses a 5300mAh battery; by comparison, the Oculus Quest 2 only has 6GB RAM, 1832 × 1920 pixels per eye, and a 3,640 mAh battery. Resident Evil 4 VR immerses you in the classic action horror game, but only on the Quest 2 (Image credit: Capcom / Oculus) Conclusion We’ve tried some lens protectors, like this one from Orzero, and found they work well on Quest 2 (and other headsets — the shape is pretty generic) to protect them from sunlight and dust.Oculus recommends wiping the lenses down with a dry optical lens microfiber cloth, starting from the center of the lens and wiping gently in a circular motion outward. Facebook says alcohol-based wipes and cleaners are not recommended for use on the lenses, as they can lead to damage. The first option is by AMVR, pictured above. I’ve got this stand myself and it’s a fantastic if you want something simple and inexpensive that blends in and matches the clean white aesthetic. The two arms that hold the Touch controllers are also optional, so if you’d rather remove them and have the controllers sitting upside down beside the Quest, that’s an option too. The most significant feature difference is that – thanks to its 16MP RGB camera – the Pico 4 offers full-color passthrough. That means that the headset can show you a video feed of the real world around you that’s in full color, whereas the Quest 2 can only show it to you in grayscale. This allows developers to use the Pico 4 headset to deliver much more realistic and immersive AR experiences than what you can get on the Quest 2. Features overcharge protection, overload protection, and over current protection to safely charge your devices. Where possible, we’ve noted the items that we’ve been able to test ourselves and also tried to provide a few options for each category, varying in price, purpose and quality.

In terms of the VR experience, the Quest 2 comes very close to the Rift S, but with a much higher resolution (1,832 by 1,920 vs. 1,280 by 1,440). Its Snapdragon 865 processor is powerful enough that you can run plenty of games on the headset itself, like Beat Saber and Superhot VR. The Quest 2 runs into a performance wall when compared to Rift S' PC power, but again, that can be solved by buying an accessory cable. The big benefit of the Rift S is its store. It uses the PC-based Oculus Store, which has had a few years to build up an impressive library of games and apps. There are lots of compelling experiences to try here, including a more feature-complete and potentially moddable version of Beat Saber. If the Oculus Store isn't enough, you can also browse SteamVR for even more games (though be prepared to wrestle with settings to get the two platforms to work with each other). However, with Oculus Link, all of those options are available on the Quest 2, as well.

An advanced crafting system allows you to construct makeshift gear with a believable weight and scale. Just like in real life, you’ll have to properly grip these weapons that are prone to breaking with extended use. Between degrading weapons and a restrictive stamina system, you have to decide on the best path to complete objectives. Stealthy approaches may make things more difficult as a mission plays out. On the other hand, rolling up to encounters with guns blazing often leaves you weaponless against a hoard of the undead.
