I was rather...captivated (pun intended) by this book during my bookstore reading binge. It was the last book I read while the reading itch was winding down after finishing 2 other books and half of 2 others. I had the energy to read one more book, and man did it grip on tightly. You’re supposed to trust me. I told you because I didn’t want you to get weird vibes and jump to conclusions. I wanted to be honest about it so you wouldn’t feel threatened. I know I’ve got some stuff to work out in my head. I’m going to see Dr. Travis this weekend and—” I hung up and stared at Eva’s captivatingly beautiful face. The one thing I don't like about this manga is that it ended. The manga is sort of split between two narratives. The first about a boy and his strange, but helpful interactions with his peers. The second has more of a plot with a guy who discovers his classmate isn't as he seems. Wayama has a similar art style to someone along the lines of Junji Ito (which it's referenced within one of the stories) and Inio Asano. The characters are drawn subtly and in a more realistic manner than the common image of what the mainstream expects out of anime/manga. You could believably believe that Wayama just wrote and drew stories about his old classmates and left it at that.
